Ankunft - Arrival

Mittlerweile bin ich schon drei Tage hier in Lahore, Pakistan. Ich bin sehr gut angekommen und dabei mich einzuleben. Loyola Hall steht auf einem ziemlich ausgiebigen Grundstueck von ungefaehr 2500 Quadratmetern. Zahlreiche Bluem und Baeume, Ziervoegel und Fische schmuecken den weitlauefigen Garten. Ich habe mein eigenes Zimmer inklusive persoenlicher Nasszelle. Auch wenn es nicht in allem unseren westlichen Anspruechen entspricht und von Strom- und Wasserausfaellen gekennzeichnet ist, so fuehle ich mich doch sehr wohl hier in Loyola Hall.
Morgen werde ich mit Pater Renato nach Muree (benannt nach der Jungfrau Maria) aufbrechen, wo ich den Jesuiten Scholastiker Andre kennen lernen werde, der mir ein wenig Urdu beibringen wird. Ich freue mich!
PS: Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet.

Three days ago, I arrived in Loyola Hall in Lahore, Pakistan. Ever since, I truely enjoy my stay here with the Jesuits, although I'm still adapting to the moist and hot climate. Yesterday, I was enlighted to meet the archbishop of Lahore, a very nice fellow, who actually had been to St. Gallen ten years ago.
Tomorrow, I will leave, together with Father Renato, to visit the Jesuit Scholastic Andre in Muree (named after Virgin Mary). I'm looking forward very much to move to this apparently beautiful pleace up in the mountains near the capital Islamabad, in order to enjoy some cooler wheather.
PS: The food is absolutely excellent.

Abreise - Departure

Jetzt ist es also bald soweit. Heute um 22:30 Uhr werde ich die Schweiz für ganze vier Monate verlassen und nach Pakistan aufbrechen. Ich bin irrsinnig gespannt und freue mich auf meinen Aufenthalt in der islamischen Welt. Ich bin überzeugt wichtige und wertvolle Erfahrungen zu sammeln, hoffe aber auch selbst einen kleinen Betrag für eine bessere Welt und vielleicht sogar den Dialog der Religionen in Pakistan leisten zu können.

Today at 10:30 p.m. I will leave Switzerland and will be staying in Pakistan for more than four months. I am very excited and am looking forward very much to gaining new insights into the islamic world. I am convinced to profit enormously through important and precious new experiences, but I also hope to be able to contribute my part to better a world.
